Fire Alarm for Deaf People

When Westminster City Hall was refurbished in 2018, the council chose Sensetech to supply its fire alarm system.

In accordance with EN54 – 23, the European standard for new-builds and refurbishments, the fire-alarm also needed to provide notifications for deaf people.

Spotting an opportunity to save Westminster City Council some much-needed money, Sensetech approached Wireless Alert Solutions to provide an alternative quotation to one given by Visual Alarms.

Fire Alarm for Deaf People

We visited the site, where we completed the survey and provided a quotation in just two hours – a quotation that was 90 per cent lower than the one provided by Visual Alarms.

We suggested Visual Alarms could be used in the public areas of the building, and our pager system be used for staff and official visitors. Sensetech and Westminster City Council were impressed with our recommendations and decided to implement them.

We completed installation in 2018, since when Westminster City Council has been delighted by the simplicity, convenience and cost saving of DeafWatch™.
